This huge piece was taxing on my green colored pencils, I used them up! As with much of my work it’s a little bit of a lot of media; watercolor, colored pencil, collage, and cut paper. The three pig’s houses are really made of straw and stick and sandpaper painted bricks.
Wanda Witch
Wanda may be a witch, but she’s a good witch who happens to spend most of her time brewing up time rather than trouble. I have certain papers in my collection that I am fond of, so much so I hate to use them, and this background paper is just one of those favorites. It compliments Wanda so nicely I just had to use it.

Little Mama
“Little Mama” came to me one day while thinking about how children play. This illustration is watercolor, colored pencil, cut paper collage, and a kid with an attitude. Having experienced a tough day of dress-up and some pretend errands she now has to read the child a story; doesn’t she looked frazzled?
Treehouse
Since I was a child I remembered the Silly Symphony cartoon with the grasshopper and the ants, and hence I was inspired! For many years I thought about creating this illustration using watercolor, colored pencil and cut paper collage, and when I finally did I was met with a huge problem. The project, about 2ftx3ft, had fused itself to the board I stretched the paper on. It was a nightmare and I spent a good amount of time carefully removing it with wet paintbrush and hair dryer. The good news is I did free the art from the board and never, ever used that board again.
